The Art of the Car Concours

Friday, July 3rd, 2015

The Art of the Car Concours is one show that is circled on many enthusiast calendars in Kansas City. Every summer Rolls Royces, Duesenbergs, Cadillac V16s, Mercedes-Benzes, Porsches, Ferraris, Aston Martins, and BMWs come together on the courtyard of the Kansas City Art Institute for a show of dramatic proportions.

At 8:00, the first vehicles began to lumber in. Despite being a concourse event, many of the cars were driven to the event under their own power. Judges would scrutinize details later to make sure every chrome bit was as shiny as possible. Large trees expanded over the morning sky, providing shade and a lovely breeze to early morning spectators.

One of the highlights of the show was the iconic GM Dreamliner, a giant touring roadshow that was designed to show the world what the future had to offer. The Mercedes-Benz Dealers of Kasnas City were proud to bring some of tomorrow’s classics, including the 2015 Mercedes-Benz SL550 White Arrow Edition, a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 Sport, a GLA45 AMG, and the all-new AMG GTS. Kids and adults alike loved all the vehicles on display.

A beautiful vintage blue Mercedes-Benz was the first trophy winner of the day. Despite the weather heating up and the humidity bearing down, Mercedes-Benz was the hit of the show. Proceeds from the annual Art of the Car show benefit the Kansas City Art Institute and future careers in the fine arts within the Kansas City Area. The Kansas City Mercedes-Benz dealers are proud to sponsor events where cars and people can be brought together to benefit others. See you next year at Art of the Car Concours.

Review: 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205)

C-Class review 3

Chances are if you are a Mercedes-Benz customer, you have had some seat time in a C-Class. Mercedes-Benz’s most popular model range is all-new for 2015. For 2015, Mercedes-Benz has done away with the C250 and C350 for the American market and has instead condensed the volume sellers into two trim levels. The C300 comes with a turbocharged 4-Cylinder engine set up for fuel economy and city driving. The C400 is equipped with a biturbo V6 engine.

We recently had the opportunity to drive around Kansas City in a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. This example is equipped with the optional panoramic sunroof, which was enjoyable in the lovely weather. Setting off in the C300 is very easy. The seat adjusts in so many ways that it is impossible to be uncomfortable. With the mirrors and radio adjusted just so, it was time to set off on our Kansas City adventure.

If there is one thing the C-Class doesn’t lack, it’s power. Even with the entry level turbo 4-cylinder, the C300 has plenty of get up and go. The 4MATIC system hooks up and gets you to legal cruising speeds with ease. It can do more than legal speeds, but this is not Germany and we have speed limits. Every control is well-placed and intuitive. Rarely do you have to ever take your eyes off the road to perform a function. Driving to Country Club Plaza, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, World War 1 Memorial, Gates BBQ, Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, and the West Bottoms, the C300 performed flawlessly all day. We averaged 28-33 MPG with the A/C cranked to freezing.

Not only did the C-Class impress with its user-friendly ergonomics and driving dynamics, it looks amazing. “It’s a mini S-Class” was the most common comment our customers have made on the car’s styling. For people wanting an incognito ride, the C-Class is perfect. The styling doesn’t shout about itself, but it doesn’t look boring in any way. Pardon the pun, but the C-Class is in fact “classy.” Everything from the wheels to the headlights is carefully sculpted to be aerodynamic and purposeful, yet it stimulates your vision in a way that isn’t in any way “look at me!”

The previous generation C-Class (W204) was an impressive car. It felt like it was carved out of a single block. No squeaks or rattles ever made themselves known. If anything, the new W205 C-Class is even better. No wonder it’s won so many awards this year. Mercedes-Benz feels that they sell “The Best or Nothing’ and the C-Class is truly the best compact sedan on the market.

The New Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe: Featured in Jurassic World

Friday, July 3rd, 2015

When Jurassic Park debuted 22 years ago, it became a sensation. Now in 2015, renowned executive director Steven Spielberg returns for the latest installment of the Jurassic Park series. Set to release on June 12th, Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard utilize Mercedes-Benz vehicles to survive the wild conditions of Jurassic World Park. Filming for the movie took place on NASA property in New Orleans, as well as Oahu in Hawaii. This adventurous film is a must-see for those who can’t stay away from the latest action-packed movies.

Mercedes-Benz and Universal Studios have a previous history of collaborating for the Jurassic Park series. The 1997 film The Lost World: Jurassic Park saw the debut of the then all-new ML-Class SUV that we have all come to know and love. Mercedes-Benz has used the same strategy to debut another all-new car in Jurassic World. The GLE Coupe will make its first public appearance in the new movie alongside the iconic G-Wagen SUV and Sprinter vans. Another vehicle to look out for in the movie is the limited-prouction G63 6X6, a 6-wheeled version of the G-Wagen. We are highly anticipating the release of the all-new GLE Coupe.

The GLE Coupe will also be available in a high-performance version, called the GLE 63 AMG. Mercedes-Benz has gone to unimaginable lengths to make the GLE63 one of, if not the best, performance SUV on the market. The GLE63 will sit at the top of the GLE-Class range, with the GLE400 expected to be the volume seller. Arriving later this fall, the GLE-Class is definitely expected to be one of 2015’s hottest rides.

New Customer Lounge

Friday, July 3rd, 2015

It’s time to take off your hard hats! Construction on our new customer service lounge is complete. Questions have circled over the past couple of weeks about the happenings at the end of the Mercedes-Benz service drive tunnel. We have been renovating the Smart Car area into the best customer lounge of any Kansas City auto dealership.

From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by our new family of tropical fish swimming about in the gigantic new aquarium. The fish tank is definitely the centerpiece of the new lounge, as you can view the aquatic environment from both sides.

Relax in a comfortable leather chair and enjoy a snack and your favorite television show. Come wintertime, you will be toasty warm thanks to a new fireplace designed to look like you’re at home.

As the lounge becomes fully operational, will have even more surprises in store for our customers. The lounge is just down the hallway from our showroom so as always; we invite you to come take a look at Mercedes-Benz’s latest models.

Here at Aristocrat Motors, we want you to feel like you’re family when you are visiting. The new lounge is your space to get comfortable and enjoy some down time while you wait for your vehicle to be serviced. We hope you pay us a visit to experience it for yourself in the near future!

Off Road Event 2

Bright and early Saturday morning, two dozen Land Rover vehicles fired up and began their day. On June 27th, local Land Rover enthusiasts gathered for an early breakfast at Aristocrat Motors. The Crave of Kansas City food truck provided the a.m. eats for the group. By 8:00, a variety of Land Rover vehicles were lined up in the Aristocrat Motors parking lot. Everything from Moab-ready Defenders and Discoveries, to stock Range Rovers and LR4s. No matter what lay ahead, all vehicles were ready to go. Some Jeeps even tagged along (just in case we felt like pulling something out of the mud). At 8:15 sharp, the convoy of Land Rovers began their journey to Kansas Rocks Off-Road Park.

Once arriving at the park, we were given a safety briefing and divided into two groups. One group went on the easier trail and the other took on the intermediate level trail. Both trails required the suspension to be fully aired up. Technicians walked around and gave advice to the drivers on which 4X4 mode to select. The main settings used that day were Rock Crawl and Mud Rut modes. Land Rover’s Hill Descent Control (HDC), which brakes for you to pace the vehicle down steep hills came in handy.

Off Road Event3

The Aristocrat Motors media vehicle, a 2008 Range Rover Sport Supercharged, dominated the intermediate level trail with ease. Despite being equipped with street tires optimized for road performance, the Sport plowed through mud, climbed over rocks, and waded through shallow water without missing a beat. The Range Rover Sport proved its capabilities extend so much further beyond the occasional trip to the mall. There were some tricky sections on the course, but the KS Rocks staff gave drivers instructions on where to place their vehicle on the terrain. Every vehicle made it back without a single scratch.

Off Road Event1

The Land Rovers lined up covered in mud back at base camp. Aristocrat Motors provided a great lunch for the guests. Delicious pulled pork, barbecue, potato salad, and baked beans assured everyone left the day’s event satisfied. Over lunch, we talked about new Land Rover models and features, and how new technologies will make off-roading even more doable for everyone. Land Rover freebies were handed out to our guests. Fun was had by all on this day and we look forward to getting some cars dirty on our next Land Rover off-road event!
